2 LASTMA officials get married


Two Officers of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) got married yesterday, Saturday.

The groom, dressed in the LASTMA colour, with a coloured cap, blazer and their usual khaki trousers while the wife wore normal wedding gown.

The couple walked down the aisle amidst ceremonial sword-crossing parade.

They danced and danced.  Well, it was their day.  So they deserved to dance.

Wishing them a happy married life in good health and wealth.

OOU Students on Sagamu and Ikenne Campuses Celebrate Yesterday, July 14th was a joyful day for final year students of Olabisi Onabanjo University in Sagamu and Ikenne, as they finished their exams amidst cheers. The pharmacy students were especially happy after spending a little below 5 years in the pharmacy school, while other students in other departments spent approximately 4 years in the University.     Well,  it's worth all the celebration. 4 to 5 years of intensive and rigorous training isn't any form of joke. OOUTH doctors begin weekend strike as Government fails to grant their request

Resident Doctors at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, Ogun State, have begun weekend  strike after their negotiations with the state government for improved pay collapsed. The doctors had embarked on a three-day warning strike over appropriate remuneration and appropriate hazard allowance et al which led to negotiations between them and the state government. It was learnt that the doctors under the aegis of the Association of Resident Doctors at the OOUTH were unable to reach agreements with their employers on some of their demands. In their   letter to  Governor Dapo Abiodun, they claimed  the state government   was  not committed to their welfare. The letter  jointly signed by the union’s president, Dr Popoola Mutiu, and the general secretary, Dr Osundara Tope, said  the association had resolved to work only week days and stay at home  during  weekends. ASUU Commences Total And Indefinite Nationwide Strike

The Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite strike. According to the chairman of ASUU at Obafemi Awolowo University, Adeola Egbedokun, the strike is total and indefinite until the union’s needs are met. The strike is to protest the poor funding of Nigerian universities and alleged plan by the federal government to increase students fees and introduce an education bank. Led by its National President, Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU declared the strike at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting late on Sunday. Weeks before the strike was announced, Mr Ogunyemi explained in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES why the lecturers were opposed to an education bank. “The Nigerian government experimented with it for 7-8 years; it failed. “So government had to set up a ministerial committee at the federal executive council to go and wind up the national education banking plan in 2001/2002, something they started in 1993.
