Two persons have been killed in renewed clashes among cult groups in Calabar, Cross River state.

This is coming less than 24 hours after the brutal murder of James Chia, a final year student of electrical electronic engineering in Cross River University of Technology, Calabar Campus, on Monday. Chia was shot and axed to death immediately finishing his final paper in the semester in his faculty.

The two persons were shot dead in the early hours of today Tuesday, July 16, at Palm street and CRUTECH pavilion field, Calabar South. It is however not ascertained if they are students of the school.

Couple uses son as collateral for 8000 naira Family of  Ajala Samuel a 15 year old boy thought they could briefly use him to raise  some money for some urgent family needs. But four months after he has been handled over to a Lagos trader, identified as Iya Meta, who in return gave them N8,000, the boy is no where to be found. Sources confirmed that Iya Meta allegedly loaned Samuel to some other traders on the Lagos Island, who paid even more for the boy, N72,000.  The traders were alleged to have further given him out to another family in the state. Uyo bus garage: Woman slumps at arrival  As reported by a co passenger. She said the woman’s husband brought her to Lagos park alive to board the vehicle going to Uyo.He kneww the woman wasn’t very strong while embarking on the long journey. Ondo, Borno, Edo, five others reject home treatment for COVID-19 patients

Amid the rising number of cases and the refusal of some persons who test positive for COVID-19 to go  to isolation centres, many states have said they will continue to treat the infected patients at isolation centres rather than resort to home treatment option. They noted that getting persons who had tested positive for the virus to the isolation centres remained one of their strategies to contain the spread of the deadly virus.  Lagos State had on Thursday said it was considering adopting home treatment option for patients with mild symptoms, noting that it would soon release the guidelines for the treatment option. The state Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, said the decision to consider home treatment for some COVID-19 patients became necessary because some residents who tested positive for the COVID-19 refused to go to the state isolation centres and had been practising self-treatment in various places.
