Fuel scarcity looms as NUPENG declares support for NLC planned strike

There may be fuel scarcity this week as the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers has said it would be participating fully in the proposed strike action by the Nigeria Labour Congress which is to start on Tuesday November 6th.



The National President of NUPENG, Prince Akporeha, who confirmed this to Punch, said as a member of the Nigeiran Labour Congress, NUPENG would comply with the directive of the labour union for all its members to embark on a nationwide strike.

NLC  had fixed November 6, 2018 for the commencement of an indefinite strike over the failure of the Federal Government to approve the N30, 000 it is demanding as minimum wage.  The NLC rejected the N22, 500 proposed by state governors.

On Friday November 2nd, the federal government secured an order from the National Industrial Court barring NLC from proceeding on its planned strike. NLC however, insist on embarking on the strike, claiming that they had not been served with court processes.

BREAKING: Passengers escape death as plane crash lands in Ilorin

  Following an incident by an aircraft in the fleet of one of the major airlines in the country, the runway of the Ilorin International Airport has been closed to traffic. Many passengers, including some highly-placed Nigerians, narrowly escaped death. All flights to Ilorin have also been cancelled until evacuation of the plane. The airline began operation from Ilorin Airport on June 16. According to investigation, the aircraft crash landed at about 9.30am on Friday morning in Ilorin from Abuja. The plane landed with a bang, which affected the cabin with luggage falling on passengers. It was gathered with the impact of the crash the plane could not taxi to the tarmac. In the last 24 hours, the runway of the airport had been closed to traffic. But all the traumatised passengers were successfully evacuated from the runway. ASUU Commences Total And Indefinite Nationwide Strike

The Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite strike. According to the chairman of ASUU at Obafemi Awolowo University, Adeola Egbedokun, the strike is total and indefinite until the union’s needs are met. The strike is to protest the poor funding of Nigerian universities and alleged plan by the federal government to increase students fees and introduce an education bank. Led by its National President, Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU declared the strike at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting late on Sunday. A video which has now gone viral shows a female fan of Tubaba removing her clothes to hug him on stage in the presence of his wife. She pulled him close, stripped off her top and attempted to take the singer’s clothes off in the presence of his wife, Annie. Words can’t explain Annie’s reaction to the incident.
