Robbers kill 28-year-old engineer, after robbing his mother's shop in Lagos


Oluwaseun David, a 28-year-old graduate of Yaba College of Technology, met his untimely death after he was killed by gunmen who attacked his mother's shop, right in front of their residence.

The robbers were said to have stormed the area around 9pm during a downpour that led a lot of people to stay indoors. The mother of the late engineer who lives at Babs Ladipo Street, New Oko-Oba, Lagos State, sells confectionery, was about to close for the day when two of the gunmen came down from the bike to rob her.

She was robbed of her gains for that day and while this was happening, an eyewitness who was around the shop reportedly rushed into the compound to alert the neighbors of what was going on.

David who was in the house, quickly ran out of the compound to check on his mother's safety, and it was at that moment that he was shot in the neck by one of the robbers. The robbers  said to be three in number including the bike rider, then fled the scene after people started trooping out en masse.

David reportedly gave up the ghost while being taken to Agege-Orile General Hospital, Lagos

Ondo, Borno, Edo, five others reject home treatment for COVID-19 patients

Amid the rising number of cases and the refusal of some persons who test positive for COVID-19 to go  to isolation centres, many states have said they will continue to treat the infected patients at isolation centres rather than resort to home treatment option. They noted that getting persons who had tested positive for the virus to the isolation centres remained one of their strategies to contain the spread of the deadly virus.  Lagos State had on Thursday said it was considering adopting home treatment option for patients with mild symptoms, noting that it would soon release the guidelines for the treatment option. Minimum wage: Labour Reacts as FG Denies Approving N30,000. "We Will Go Back To Strike"

The Federal Government said on Wednesday the N30,000 minimum wage proposal contained in the report of the tripartite committee set up by the Federal Government was still a recommendation and had not been approved. Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who spoke with State House correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council, said President Muhammadu Buhari would still study the report presented to him on Tuesday by the Chairman of the committee, Amal Pepple, before taking a decision on it. Pepple had while presenting the report on Tuesday disclosed that the committee recommended that the national minimum wage be increased from N18,000 monthly to N30,000. She also said her committee drafted a bill that the Federal Government would send to the National Assembly to effect the change. Hundreds of commuters were stranded and, at least, four people injured on Tuesday as a commercial bus, maneuvering near a fallen fuel tanker, burnt beyond recognition, blocking the ever-busy Oke Afa-Isolo Bridge in Lagos. The Vanagon bus carrying 14 passengers burnt at 6.30a.m. when it was ascending the bridge connecting Oke Afa with Isolo, Okota and some others in Oshodi-Isolo LGA. A witness at the scene said that four occupants of the bus were rushed to the Isolo General Hospital for treatment. The witness, who identified himself simply as a financial expert, was driving a 2005 Toyota and closely following the burnt bus. The witness, whose car was slightly affected by smoke at the rear, told NAN that the bus driver was among those rushed to hospital.
