Just 2 hours to the Presidential election Borno state capital Maiduguri and its environs are under severe attack with several heavy explosion and gunshots in the city, the residents of Maiduguri are currently in panic as series of explosions have rocked the city all within ten minutes. The explosions, seven of them, began at around 5:50am and ended a little around 6am on Saturday 23/02/2019. Residents are worried about their safety, especially with the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to begin in less than two hours. More than 30 football viewers die in Calabar during ManUtd's game against Anderlecht More than 30 people have died at a football viewing centre in Calabar, Cross River state after high tension electricity cable broke from its mooring and fell on the building. The football fans  assembled at the centre to watch a UEFA Europa League quarter-final match between Manchester United and Anderlecht on satellite television, a game the host won 2-1 (3-2) on aggregate to advance to the semi-final. A survivor told The Punch that a transformer near the viewing centre at the Iyang-Esu area of the Calabar Municipal local government area exploded while the match was on-going and this caused a high-tension cable to drop on the viewing centre.  The survivor said amid sobs: “It happened during the match between Manchester United and Anderlecht. Man sacrifices 6 year old son for money ritual. Police in Ghana, have arrested a Abdul Salam, a 36 year old farmer who allegedly gruesomely murdered his son for ritual purpose. The suspect, Abdul Salam buried the child in a shallow grave in his farm. This unfortunate incident occurred yesterday,Tuesday. A resident in an interview with Prestea-based Energy FM said the little boy went missing on Monday and a search party led by the Unite Committee was constituted. After a thorough search, they discovered the father of the young boy was complicit. The resident who was part of the manhunt indicated that, after the suspect had accomplished his mission, he dug a shallow grave in his farm and quickly buried his son there. The resident said Abdul was escorted by the police to where he buried his son and was then asked to exhume the corpse.
