Photos: Funke Akindele's new series InduStreet private screening



Movie Actor  and Producer, Funke Akindele popularly known for her role as 'Jenifa' in the award winning movie series 'Jenifa's diary' and her husband JJC Skillz hosted a private screening for the music oriented television drama, Industreet  which has been much anticipated, at Filmhouse IMAX Cinema, Lekki on May the 19th.

The screening was attended by celebrities like Toke Makinwa, Kate Henshaw, Joke Silver, Moe Musa, Dede Mabiaku, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi. Chairman red bricks (Amen Estate), Anny Idibia, Ice Prince and a host of others

During interviews with them after the screening, they all gave positive feedback.

Rita Dominic who was in attendance said:
“I was drawn into it. People who don’t know how the music industry works will surely be sold into the story. It's quite different and very interesting. This is the first time we will see something like this!”

ASUU strike will affect upcoming election- INEC explains

The Independent National Electoral Commission has raised alarm that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities would affect its preparations for the 2019 elections. On November 5, 2018, ASUU began an indefinite strike action over the failure of the Federal Government to implement three areas in the Memorandum of Action it signed with the union on September 14, 2017.   On Thursday, a National Commissioner for INEC and Chairman of its Information and  other Education Committee, Festus Okoye, expressed concerns about the effect of the ASUU  strike on the 2019 elections  during the opening of a one-day seminar on media gender sensitive reporting. The commission said that it would deploy over one million ad hoc staff made up of lecturers in federal tertiary institutions, members of the National Youth Service Corps and students of federal tertiary institutions in the elections. Ondo, Borno, Edo, five others reject home treatment for COVID-19 patients

Amid the rising number of cases and the refusal of some persons who test positive for COVID-19 to go  to isolation centres, many states have said they will continue to treat the infected patients at isolation centres rather than resort to home treatment option. They noted that getting persons who had tested positive for the virus to the isolation centres remained one of their strategies to contain the spread of the deadly virus.  Lagos State had on Thursday said it was considering adopting home treatment option for patients with mild symptoms, noting that it would soon release the guidelines for the treatment option. The state Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, said the decision to consider home treatment for some COVID-19 patients became necessary because some residents who tested positive for the COVID-19 refused to go to the state isolation centres and had been practising self-treatment in various places. Taxify driver beat up female passenger for what he claimed as due to lack of respect A Taxify driver has beaten up his passenger for not respecting him with ‘eh’ in the Yoruba form of respect. A friend of the victim shared stories of how she was beaten by the man for addressing him ‘O’ instead of ‘Eh’ during a phone call. In the narration of the event, she wrote, “My friend requested taxify and was talking to her friend on phone about the driver not being able to take her to her own destination. “the cab man can’t take her to where she’s going, in Yoruba language. Chief Medical Director, LAUTECH reveals the real cause of Davido's uncle Senator Isiaka Adeleke's death The Chief Medical Director, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Prof Akeem Lasisi has revealed the actual cause of the death of the Senator representing Osun-West senatorial district, Chief Isiaka Adeleke.
